Welcome... Thank you for visiting Vindaloo.com. This multi-purpose site is the home on the web for my family. Since my wife and I are both computer geeks I hope that this site can become a good source of computer information. We are: - Chris Hilton
I am a software developer in Connecticut. Currently I work for an Internet Service Provider. My team is in the process of developing an automated provisioning system for our network. - Sanju Misra
My wife Sanju is an information security specialist. She's not really interested in the personal website thing so don't expect much content on her side of the page. - Jay
That's right, vindaloo.com is expanding its staff. We don't know anything at all about the new addition. More news as we get it. Updated 07-17-2002:Our newest staff member arrived 07-16-2002 at 3:27PM. As with all endeavours we expect that it will take some time before we can get Jay completely into the team. We are quite patient. We have the greatest confidence that he will be a great addition to the team as time passes.
Here's what we are up to... I'm working on several projects. I hope that some of them are interesting to other people. I work mostly with open source software: FreeBSD, Linux, Apache, PHP, and Python. It's what I do at work so that makes it easy to practice at home. Here's what I can think of currently: - Home Network
I've got a fairly simple home network. This started out as a project to build a test-bed network for Unix programming projects in 1994/1995. It's grown out of control ever since. The network was a good learning project but lately it's been a bear to maintain. - Photo Gallery
I take digital photographs. The convenience of being able to transfer and display the the pictures on the web outways the loss of quality over film media for most of the pictures that I take. I'll probably go back to old-fashioned film photography someday. I intended to create a web photo gallery system to display all the pictures but it was easier to just use gallery instead. - Jukebox
The computer has already changed the way that many people listen to music. If you aren't familiar with the terms MP3 or Ogg Vorbis today then either you will soon or you don't care about music that much. I've got a pretty modest, but focused, music collection and I'm in the process of taking the Analog LP's and digitizing them. That will give me an MP3 collection that I can use from any computer in my home. It's like having a radio station that only plays music that you like. Like most other people my age, when I was in college I used to make cassette tapes of my favorite songs. Mostly for my own use but occassionally to give away. Getting all of my music into digital format will make this easy to do again. Eventually I hope the record companies* get a clue and realize that they are not at war with their customers. When that happens the MP3 player will be ubiquitous. Updated: Well, not really. I've gotten this going and it's working pretty well. I'll do a write-up soon. |
